Description

Chapter 8 ranks the treatment landscape by where each option's evidence lives on the pyramid — from testimonials at the floor to meta-analyses at the summit. This chart makes the ranking explorable: bar length is evidence strength, color depth is approximate effect magnitude, hover gives the one-line verdict, and clicking a bar opens the full reasoning. Both scales are deliberately qualitative — false precision is its own kind of misinformation.

The claim tester deals six marketplace claims — the five-star supplement, the clinic's internal neurofeedback data, the honestly boring omega-3 sentence — and asks you to place each on its pyramid floor, with explained feedback. The skill being trained: asking which floor does this claim live on before spending money, hours, or hope.

Lesson Plan

  1. Read the shape (3 min): Which cheap, strong-evidence rows surprise people? (Sleep and parent training, usually.)
  2. Verdicts (4 min): Click neurofeedback and supplements. Discuss the "better controls, smaller effect" tell.
  3. Test (5 min): Run all six claims. Note that the trustworthy claim sounds the most boring.
  4. Audit (3 min): Each family lists what they currently spend on, and its floor.
