Description

Chapter 5 teaches that any legitimate ADHD evaluation is built from the same components. This map lays them out around the diagnostic conclusion: the clinical interview (the spine), rating scales, self-report, collateral information, childhood history, and — drawn dashed because they're optional or single data points — neuropsych testing and computer attention tests. Two diamond gates carry the criteria: onset before 12, and real impairment in two or more settings (with its known blind spot: high-achievement masking). Click anything for what it contributes, its limits, and the red flag of its absence.

Rate-this-evaluation mode is the payoff: four vignette evaluations — from the 20-minute prescription mill to the solid two-session workup — that you judge thorough or insufficient, with feedback naming the exact components present or missing. That judgment is the consumer skill the chapter exists to build.

Lesson Plan

  1. Tour (4 min): Click all seven components and both gates. Note which two are dashed and why.
  2. Rate (5 min): Judge all four vignettes. Discuss the telehealth one — what makes it insufficient isn't the video call.
  3. Apply (3 min): Draft the two questions you'd ask a prospective evaluator, using the map as the checklist.
