Description

Every ADHD evaluation counts the same eighteen behaviors. This explorer puts the actual decision procedure in your hands: toggle symptom chips in the two DSM-5 columns, watch the live counters, and see the resulting presentation the moment a column crosses the threshold — six symptoms for children, five from age seventeen (the Adult checkbox moves the line). Hovering any chip names the executive function underneath it, connecting the checklist back to Chapter 2's machinery.

Three presets tell the chapter's stories: Marcus, 9 trips the visible column; Elena, 15 meets full criteria while disturbing no one; and Devon 9 → 39 (click twice) unchecks the visible motor chips and checks the internal ones — the presentation shift that makes "he sits still now" mean nothing. The banner always carries the caution that counts alone never diagnose: the duration, onset, settings, and impairment gates of Chapter 5 still apply.

Lesson Plan

  1. Operate (3 min): Build a pattern that yields each of the three presentations.
  2. Presets (4 min): Run Marcus, then Elena. Ask: which one gets an evaluation this year, and why isn't it about severity?
  3. Shift (3 min): Run Devon twice. Discuss what "grew out of it" gets wrong.
  4. Threshold (2 min): With five inattentive chips on, toggle the Adult checkbox. Discuss why the DSM lowers the bar at 17.
