Wood Anemone (Anemone quinquefolia) is a delicate spring ephemeral that spreads into low, airy carpets across the woodland floor. Each slender stem holds a single white flower (sometimes blushed with pink underneath) above a whorl of deeply divided leaves. The flowers open in sunshine and nod closed on cloudy days. It is sometimes called "windflower," and you can find it among the spring wildflowers at the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden.
